Dongfang Yuechu reveals himself by using powerful healing magic on Wangquan Fugui. He is known as the "demon" Daoist, a rising star in the Yiqidao League who came from the wilderness and practices spirit techniques alongside Daoist ones.
The Wangquan family attacks him with all of their swords and he effortlessly negates their entire assault using his thousand fist technique and Pure Flame of Yang. He declares he has come to rescue Fugui.
Fugui's father at last steps in, stabbing Dongfang with the Wangquan Blade getting past his defenses. Dongfang reveals that his mom was Dongfang Qinlan (东方秦兰) and Fugui's mom was Dongfang Huaizhu (东方淮竹，初日淮竹) so that he is Fugui's cousin. He says that Fugui's dad tried to kill Huaizhu to use the spirit energy she possessed to strengthen his son's Daoist powers. Instead, Yuechu's mom Qinlan sacrificed herself to save her sister. Yuechu says the Wangquan emperor disgraced his aunt, saying that he hesitated to kill his son because of the guilt he feels.
Shocked and remorseful for his past wrong doing and mistreatment of Fugui and his mother, Fugui's dad lets them go. Indeed, Huaizhu's dying wish was that if Fugui ever wanted to leave, his dad should let him. Fugui leaves the Wangquan Blade saying he is leaving the family and will not take it up again (to Dongfang's disappointment).
As they flee they run into a fox spirit woman who looks oddly familiar. She single-handedly defeated the 50 Tiandi Yijian soldiers stationed there. She blames Yuechu for interfering in others' affairs. Yuechu retorts saying who was the one who accepted Huangfeng Ling's[1] request to save Fugui (the demons' worst enemy).
The woman's face is blurred, but she is wearing pink and has fox ears. Bai Yuechu feels a very strong desire to see the fox spirit woman's face, but then wakes up to see Susu looking over him. He discovers Rongrong has used the Memory Mallets and a Nine-tail Electric Memory Pins (九尾显忆雷达) to broadcast Fugui and Yuechu's past lives memories onto a screen. This is to prove that they are the reincarnated Wangquan Fugui and Dongfang Yuechu.
Wang Fugui's Dad then walks in and flirts on Yaya, calling her beautiful. Yaya responds by freezing him. The old masked man then reveals himself to be Wang Fugui's grandfather (yeye). He beckons Fugui to marry Qingtong, but Fugui still hates yaoguai.
Yeye then says this is not his decision, but one made by the Yiqidao league. He asks Qingtong to take out the Daoist wooden tablet he gave to her in Episode 15. When she does, all in the room including Fugui bow down to her. Yeye explains that the Daoist charm (with a carving of Yeye on it) allows Qingtong to order anyone to do what she wants, including marry her.
However, Qingtong then breaks the Daoist charm, freeing Fugui. She says she cannot force Fugui to accept her, saying that in his previous life, Fugui the Daoist soldier struggled to fight for his freedom from the Yiqidao league. So in this life, how could she seek to restrict his freedom?
