The King of the North Shi Kuan then battles the Guardian spirits of the Kuqing Tree. Many of these Guardian spirits (妖界军队 一方妖王) are waiting for their reincarnated lover to be born and grow up. They live in Tushan near the center and hope to earn favor from Tushan by helping defend it. The guardians initially stall Shikuan using Tiancang Ice Silk (天蚕冰丝 Tiancang Bing Si). However, Shikuan breaks free using his ultimate move Dahao Zhenyuan (大耗真元) which turns him into a giant mountain golem. He advances towards the Kuqing tree, prepared to destroy it as once the tree is destroyed, love ones will no longer reincarnate.
Bai Yuechu then flies in with Susu, cutting off Shikuan's right arm with a Pure Yang Flame punch. Shi Kuan transforms back and asks Yuechu why he is interfering. The scene flashes back to Yuechu fleeing the scene with Susu holding on and trying to convince him to help. She succeeds when her Matchmaking Book (Chunai Tianpian) begins glowing, indicating that Shikuan has become her new assignment. Yuechu decides to return knowing that Rongrong will owe him big time money if he helps Susu complete a matchmaking assignment.
Returning to the present, Shikuan and Bai exchange blows, and the spirits at the center of Tushan watch from the rooftop. A strange spirit with six ears joins them, eating a peach, and explains that Yuechu is using Pure Yang Flame, which has been lost for 500 years. The other spirits are excited and begin taking videos of it using their phones, and the news that Pure Yang Flame has been rediscovered quickly spreads like wildfire over the internet via the Yaoguai Weibo.
Frustrated with the stalemate, Yuechu asks why Shi Kuan won't behave and just fall in love with his reincarnated lover. Shi Kuan explains with a flashback that Susu reads out loud from the Matchmaker book.
He and the Yuyao Princess once made the Pledge of Love together when they were kids. However this was a problem because the vow was not made before death when the princess was later killed during a rebellion. The Heart Oath works best if done right before death, so Shikuan's Oath was unstable due to the large gap of time. Susu is unable to read more information since the Chunai Tianpian was still torn from earlier and thus missing part of Shi Kuan's story.
Shikuan gets through Yuechu's defense and extinguishes the Pure Yang flame punching him in the gut. Susu still confused starts reading the book again. This pisses Shi Kuan off and he tells Susu to shut up and that the Shadow Foxes have already helped him recover his memories and he no longer needs a matchmaker. He is about to punch Susu into next week when a Void Tear flies past his head. Yuechu rescues Susu and begins fighting Shi Kuan with his Xukong Zhilei.
As Yuechu holds him off, Susu begins using the Tushan secret technique: Mengmei Zhiyan (梦寐之颜) a dream camera, to obtain pictures of Yuyao Princess' current situation. They are all pictures of her dating someone else, which explains why Shi Kuan is so pissed off and is attacking Tushan to vent his anger. Susu then uses Recollections of Love (爱的回忆录) to project Shi Kuan's memories onto a television. The image shows that in Yuyao's former life, she married someone else right when rebel armies were invading.
