Jinmian Huoshen (金面火神) or Gold Fire God is the legendary God of Fire. His original name is Jin Renfeng (金人凤) or Gold Man Phoenix. He was once slated to be the successor of the Dongfang Clan.

He is summoned as a deity by an Yiqidao pirate fleet that launches an attack on Tushan. One of his disciples Dongfang Qinlan is Dongfang Yuechu's mother. He has been searching for Yuechu for ages.

He is one of the few characters that mastered the Pure Flame of Yang. But after losing the Dongfang blood from his veins, he lost that power and his claim to the Dongfang throne.

Appearance[]

Adult[]

Jinrenfeng

Young Jin Renfeng as he appears when greeting Wangquan Baye

In the Zhuye Arc, he appears as a tall Daoist young adult with brown hair and brown eyes. He first appears fighting off Wangquan Baye to protect Dongfang Huaizhu. He then learns that Baye helped save Huaizhu, and the two settle scores.[1]

Old[]

An old sage with long white hair and a beard, his eyes burn flaming red, his skin glowing gold. He carries a torch staff and wears bright red robes befitting of a deity such as him. Giant fireball meteors surround him, which he hurls at his opponents, capable of even scorching the most powerful of Yaoguai such as Honghong. (Season 3)

Story[]

His story is mainly explained in Season 3 and Season 6.

When launching an invasion on Tushan, the Yiqidao pirates claim that Jin has has been living in seclusion for 1000 years, cultivating his powers.[2][3]

Zhuye Arc[]

Long ago, he entered Tushan and one of Cuiyu's sisters (Cuiyu Xiaotan) fell in love with him. She left the village but died after Huoshen sucked the powers out of her, gaining the Blood Transfusion magic of the Cuiyu Clan.[4][1]

Huoshen had been a disciple of the Dongfang house head and constantly ask to marry into the Dongfang clan. When that failed he betrayed his master. He uses blood transfusion to steal his master's Dongfang blood and replace his own blood with it. This grants him the power of the Dongfang clan to summon Pure Yang Flame. He then kills his master and seeks to marry Dongfang Huaizhu.[5][6]

Wangquan Baye then challenges Jin and offers to marry Huaizhu as his concubine. Wangquan promises Jin a marriage alliance and not make noise about how Jin murdered Dongfang Jiazhu. Jin relents, and Huaizhu and her meimei Dongfang Qinlan change clans to escape Huoshen. Huaizhu then gives birth to Wangquan Fugui, and she is sacrificed so that her son Wangquan Fugui can become the ultimate demon-slaying Daoists.[7][8]

Meanwhile, Jin got into a fight with Huaizhu and Baye and lost blood, he suddenly aged fast, becoming an old man (a side effect of the Blood Transfusion as the body is unable to mass produce the new blood in Jin). If he loses more blood he could possibly die. So he practices the Leech Cultivation Art (水蛭云功法) he learned from his ex Cuiyu Xiaotan to try extend his life. However, he did not realize that the art requires two people to make successful. Jin then searches for other life-extending spells, ultimately all in vain.[8]

However, one day, the Yiqidao League baits him with life-prolonging pills in exchange for helping them attack Tushan. The events of Hongyue Arc then unfold.[8]

Meeting Dongfang Yuechu[]

Huoshen is summoned by a pirate gang to launch an attack on Tushan. The powerful fire god at that time (500 years before present) was the only one capable of using the Chunzhi Yangyan, a holy fire capable of wiping out Yaoguai.[2]

Huoshen takes a magic Flaming Red Pill (赤练妖丹) that allows him to recover and vastly increases his spirit power for a brief time allowing him to achieve the Gold Form of Pure Flame Armor (火质纯正 金光护体). He summons a fire meteor to crush Tushan, but Honghong kissing Dongfang Yuechu and receiving his spirit aura punches a hole through Huoshen's chest.[5]

He recovers the next day, but Cuiyu Ling prepares a vat of medicine using her saliva. She opens her third eye and uses her blood transfusion technique to drain the Dongfang blood out of Huoshen in exchange for her saliva medicine. Huoshen then loses his flame power and leaves Tushan.[4]

After losing the Divine Blood (神血) of the Dongfang Clan, he lost his flame ability and his claim to succession to Dongfang.[2]

Vengeful, he enters the Shadow Fox Empress' lair, asking her to take revenge on Dongfang Yuechu and Tushan Honghong, asking her to make sure the couple never makes a Heart Oath at the Kuqing tree. He says that if she does this, she can gain access to the magic she has been searching for forever: Xukong Zhilei. The Shadow Fox empress agrees, but then takes away Huoshen's life for wasting her time (as she was already aware this information). And so Huoshen dies with his marrow sucked dry until he is a skeleton.[9]
