Episode 28[]
Three bandits, Brother Hu (tiger), Brother He (crane), and Yumian Fengjun, have chased the young Dongfang Yuechu to the border of Tushan that he has taken refuge inside. They attempt to cross into Tushan territory, but Tushan Honghong suddenly appears and repulses them for trespassing. They try to fight her, but are overwhelmed by her speed, strength, and skill. Rongrong and Yaya arrive and calculate entry fee's for the four that they will need to pay to ensure safe passage through Tushan. The three Daoists have no money and at Dongfang Yuechu's suggestion, the Tushan foxes take their Daoist weapons as payment. Dongfang pays his own fee, using the money he scammed off Fengjun. The three then spend their time in the Tushan resort along with Dongfang until their money is used up and they decide to wait outside the gate to recapture Dongfang when he runs out of money. Six months pass, and he still hasn't left Tushan, having been given a job as a "servant of servants" to pay for room and board in Tushan. Dongfang has decided to stay in Tushan, but Honghong still doesn't think he should stay due to how dangerous Tushan can be since in those days it was frequently under attack by Daoists. Suddenly, a ship launches a fire attack at the wall of Tushan.
Episode 29[]
The Yi Qi Dao League has hired a famous Daoist, called the Gold Fire God (Jinmian Huoshen), to help them attack Tushan (they have been frequently attacking Tushan). The Gold Fire God is one of the only few known individuals capable of using Pure Yang Flame and unlike previous people the Yiqidao has hired is quite powerful and even Honghong is incapable of blocking his flames with her Invincible Claws. When it appears that Honghong is in danger, Dongfang yells to the Jinmian, calling him Uncle Jinmian, asking him to rescue him and loudly revealing that he is the son of Dongfang Qinlan to everyone present. Huoshen's subordinates rush to Yuechu's aid to help save him from Hu, He, and Fengjun after he is knocked off Tushan's wall. Rongrong however gives the three Daoists their magic weapons back to turn the tide. Huoshen is distracted as a result of the antics and is forced to deal with Fengjun (who betrays the other two Daoists himself) directly. Rongrong explains to Yaya that Yuechu is using this tactic to distract Jinmian, but also puts his life in Honghong's hands, trusting her to save him.
Episode 30[]
Dongfang Yuechu decides to reveal more about the Gold Fire God's shady past in order to distract him and give Honghong advantage. Huoshen, shocked Dongfang Yuechu knows all this, is distracted and tries to deny it, but gets punched by Honghong's Qumoyishi and is gravely wounded. Huoshen then takes a magic Flaming Red Pill that allows him to recover and vastly increases his spirit power. He begins summoning a gigantic fireball to destroy Tushan. Honghong begins holding up the fireball with her Invincible Claws, but sustains heavy damage from the Pure Yang Flame. Dongfang takes Honghong's hand telling her he will now tell her his family's most closely guarded secret. He then stabbed himself through the chest with Honghong's own hand and, coughing up blood, kisses her on the lips. Honghong's power is vastly magnified and she leaps through the fireball unharmed and punches a hole straight through Huoshen's chest.
Episode 31[]
Dongfang Yuechu wakes up to the leech spirit, Miss Cuiyu Ling, treating his wounds. Rongrong comes in and explains that Cuiyu has been identifying Dongfang's blood for a scheme. Outside Tushan, the Yiqidao League Daoists and Gold Fire God have all been healed and their weapons confiscated. Huoshen swears to get revenge on Tushan. Honghong explains that as long as Dongfang Yuechu remains in Tushan, the Daoists will probably continue trying to attack them so she is going to solve the problem once and for all. She then stabs Dongfang through the chest and hurls him off the wall, dead. The Daoists lament the loss of the Dongfang line. Then Honghong lifts Huoshen into the air and explains that the blood inside his body is not his own. Then with help from Cuiyu, they drain the Dongfang blood from his veins replacing it with medicine that will cause him to regenerate his own blood back. This robs him of his ability to use Pure Yang Flame forever. The Daoists leave in shame and Honghong breathes a sigh of relief. It is then revealed that it was not Dongfang who was killed at all, but a magic fox illusion covering up Yumian Fengjun's dead corpse that had been filled with Dongfang blood designed to fool Huoshen.
Episode 32[]
Dongfang is the last remaining survivor of the Dongfang Clan. Honghong asks what Dongfang would like in return for saving them. He wants to stay with Honghong forever as he sick of the human world. Yuechu grows up with Honghong, Yaya, Rongrong, but one day he decides to leave to join the Yiqidao. The sisters ask why. Dongfang explains that he is leaving because of "that" incident. The scene returns to the night before the duel between Dongfang and Honghong. Dongfang explains to Yaya that he left because he wanted to fulfill Honghong's dream. She demands to know why he won't believe Tushan is innocent. He explains that he and Honghong, while both leaders, have no power in the organizations they belong to and cannot convince them that Tushan is not responsible.
Episode 33[]
The flashback at last ends and returns to the present day Yaya reminiscing about what Dongfang meant that Honghong and Dongfang both were mere figure heads and being used. Meanwhile everyone else is about to watch a special play about Honghong and Dongfang's past. The play's scene starts moments after the duel between Honghong and Dongfang.
The Shadow Fox Empress has appeared and informs them that they have fallen into her trap. Both of them weakened, Dongfang expresses his sorrow for not believing Honghong and trusting her like he ought to have done and that he failed to uncover the Shadow Fox plot. His profound sorrow triggers something remarkable and his tears become Tears of the Void. The Empress mocks his pitiable situation having unlocked the remarkable technique in such a weak state. Honghong replies that he still has him and begins hitting Tears at the Empress with Dongfang's assistance. Susu worriedly comments that if the fight continues much longer, the Foolish Daoist will die, while Rongrong begins to sense something is off about the play. With Dongfang dying, Honghong laments that it is her fault that he has pushed himself to such extremes and that if only she had accepted his love back then this would have never happened.
Honghong leads Dongfang to the Tree of Bitter Love and they make the Pledge of Love. Before they can complete the Pledge the Shadow Fox Empress reappears and stabs Dongfang through the chest. In rage Honghong begins pummeling the Empress with her Invincible Claws tearing her body apart. Dongfang, still alive, finishes the pledge, saying he was ready to make it 50 years ago. Honghong having pledged all her spirit power to complete the pledge begins to lose her strength. The Empress quickly regenerates and begins to choke the weakening Honghong, saying that she was a fool to make the pledge since now if she kills Honghong, Dongfang will never be reincarnated.
Episode 34[]
As the Shadow Fox Empress began to gloat over her victory, but Honghong replied with a grin that she and Dongfang had used the Xukong Zhilei from Yuechu's right eyeball as their fabao for the Pledge of Love, and the Empress would have no choice, but to protect and keep Honghong safe lest she die, causing Dongfang to never be reincarnated and the Empress to never be able to acquire the Xukong Zhilei, turning the tables on Lady Heihu, allowing them to be reincarnated. The play came to an end, and a mysterious Fox Spirit (Zuoshi) appeared on stage who reveals himself as Rongrong's "brother". Zuoshi explains that before he trapped the Southern Princess Luolan after she failed to kill Susu and was brought to meet Lady Heihu. Zuoshi then explains he plans to attack Tushan having discovered a different way of beating them.
Episode 35[]
A tall strong man wearing sunglasses (Shi Kuan) begins cutting mountains and throwing them at Tushan. Nearby Tushan Fox Spirits look in horror as boulders begin raining down from the sky. In the chaos several Shadow Foxes begin attacking Tushan. Zuoshi places everyone in the movie room under a sleeping spell. Shi Kan smashes through the wall carrying the unconscious Fan Yunfei. Tushan Yaya appears, having changed into a chilly blue outfit. Zuoshi says she never cared about him at all growing up, giving all her attention to Susu. He then summons a magic bell (混元一气种) that traps Rongrong inside. Yaya and Shi Kuan begin fighting. Zuoshi uses Nightmare Fox on the sleeping Susu and Yuechu saying that he will destroy them and steal all of Honghong's power.
Episode 36[]
Zuoshi recounts how he was rescued by Yaya and Rongrong on the cusp of dying. He fell in love with Yaya and worked as hard as he could to be noticed by her. He became the youngest Fox Spirit in Tushan to cultivate a human form. Despite his achievements Yaya's gaze only watched Susu. One night while lamenting and doubting his self worth, the Shadow Fox Empress appeared to Zuoshi and offered him a deal to help win over Yaya which he accepted. Back in the present, Zuoshi tried to force Bai Yuechu to show him what his heart's greatest desires were. Zuoshi was shocked when he saw only the image of a giant cake, and then Yuechu attacked him revealing that his poor upbringing had allowed him (along with his father) to become the master of his own dreams (having always been daydreaming of better things).
Unfortunately Zuoshi's illusions managed to work on Susu and she began to walk forward towards Yuechu muttering, "I don't want to" (我不要). Yuechu confused by her sleepwalking and suddenly taller height, tried to wake her up, but Susu then punched him with great force and he was able to block it just in time with his staff (which broke due to the powerful blow), but was still sent flying through the wall. As Yuechu looked up at Susu he saw that the little Fox Spirit grew taller and more mature with each step, continuing to mutter that "I don't want to", and calling him "Little Daoist." With a final scream, the fully grown Susu punched Bai Yuechu, the deadly force sending him smashing through the ground and leaving behind a massive crater of destruction.
Taken by surprise, Yaya left her defense open and was dealt a heavy blow by Shi Kuan. She managed to freeze Shi Kuan and ran after the transformed Susu, who then attacked Yaya drawing her blood with a blow. Zuoshi then boasted to the trapped Rongrong that he was able to manipulate and control Susu because of "that incident" that happened in Tushan Honghong's past life.
Episode 37[]
While both were still young, before Dongfang arrived, Tushan Honghong and Rongrong were both captured by a cruel Daoist and put in cages. He planned to sell them as sex slaves for money and used sealing charms to prevent them from using their powers and spirit energy to escape. The Daoist assistant convinced his master not to prey on the young fox spirits since it would damage the 'merchandise' and lower their 'value'. The Daoist then sets up an array of magic bells and charms to protect them from lesser spirits and warn of danger should a strong spirit approach. He then retires to sleep, putting his assistant in charge of watch.
Meanwhile Honghong tried to comfort her younger sister, and recalled the advice she'd been given to never let her guard down around humans, especially the men who were treated poorly themselves by other humans. She tried to break out of the cage, struggling in vain against the seals.
The Small Daoist then appeared, telling them his senior had fallen asleep and did not easily wake from sleep. As he reached his hands through the cage bars and covered her mouth telling her to be quiet and that it would not hurt very much. Honghong recalled the advice she'd been given before and afraid she struck out and punching the assistant through his chest. As he began to die, he quickly removed the sealing charms from Honghong's limbs. In his dying words, he explained he had a dream that one day Daoists and spirits like them would all get along together. He fell to the ground telling them to hurry and escape. He then died.
The Daoist then awoke to the sounds of his set of bells and charms shattering from the presence of a powerful spirit. Honghong appeared from around the corner, carrying the dead assistant and Rongrong hiding behind her now much taller and mature sister. The Daoist tried to fight back unable to understand how she had suddenly become so powerful, but Honghong utterly beat the Daoist before telepathically telling him to scram.
After returning to Tushan, the young Yaya tried to talk to Honghong, but one of the older fox spirits stopped her, explaining her power had greatly increased, due to great burden and emotional trauma she experienced (fox spirit's power is based on their emotions).
Episode 38[]
Zuoshi tries to take Honghong's spirit power through a kissing technique, but Bai Yuechu bursts out of the ground and punches Zuoshi. Bai fights with Shi Kuan, tricking him into blasting the Hunyuan Bell trapping Rongrong, thereby freeing her. Rongrong then tells him they don't have a chance of winning against Honghong and Shi Kuan unless Bai turns into Dongfang Yuechu. Bai agrees in exchange for money and 5 rainbow lollipops. Rongrong then knocks his spirit free of his body so he can deal with Honghong's dreamworld, still under the control of Zuoshi.
Episode 39[]
Honghong is trapped in a nightmare of the time she accidentally killed the Daoist assistant. An illusion of her savior tells her she can redeem herself if she gives him her spirit power. Suddenly, Bai Yuechu and Rongrong appear and knock the fake "savior" away, who is revealed to be Zuoshi in disguise trying to steal Honghong's power. Bai kicks him out of the dreamworld. Back in reality, Zuoshi orders Shi Kuan to attack Yaya. Shi Kuan's power is amplified as his body begins absorbing the excess spirit power in Tushan via the move Beidou Shenquan. Back in the dreamworld Bai's Memory Mallets do not work until he complains that Dongfang should stop messing with other people's hearts. This triggers Honghong memory: Dongfang Yuechu wants to propose to Honghong on the Qixi Festival. Rongrong hints that he should go to Shuangsheng Mountain...
Episode 40[]
Dongfang Yuechu arranges a plan with some flower fairy spirits to cause the valley to bloom on his signal. He then see's Honghong traveling somewhere wearing an elegant outfit and carrying a basket with flowers and decides to follow her, suspecting that she is meeting a suitor who intends to win her hand. He discovers Honghong kneeling in front of a preserved dead boy in a cold cave reminiscing about an earlier time when she was rescued by the Small Daoist.
The scene cuts and a group of rogue Daoists approach Tushan intending to destroy the fox spirits and make a name for themselves. Their boat's path is blocked by Dongfang who is sitting on a floating log.
Honghong visits the frozen cave containing the Small Daoist once a year. She recalls the Small Daoist's dream of a world where spirits and humans lived in harmony together because their feelings and hearts were the same. This changed her outlook on life. She lost her will to do anything, her heart unable to hold anything except the Small Daoist's dream.
Meanwhile Dongfang begins fighting the approaching band of Daoists frustrated that they are ruining his Qixi. He takes his anger out on them after he hears Honghong admit that her heart has no room for anyone else. The fighting sets off the signal, and the flower fairies begin setting everything in bloom.
Honghong watches Dongfang mourning alone in the midst of the sudden bloom of flowers asking if he finally understands her. Dongfang then locks himself up in his room for a year, and Rongrong comes to visit asking him how he plans to steal Honghong's heart since she has idolized the long dead Small Daoist to perfection in her mind, and he cannot compete with that.
Dongfang tells Rongrong that Honghong's idolized savior is flawed and her feelings do not stem from love at all because it holds her back and strangles her with regret. He tells Rongrong he still has hope, because what Honhong feels for her savior isn't love at all. Instead he will help her pay the Small Daoist back so she can be free from her burden and free to choose someone of her own free will instead of out of obligation for atonement. Rongrong tells him she may not choose him even then, and he replies that it is worth gambling for with the rest of his life.
The illusion of Zuoshi's dreamworld surrounding Honghong collapses. Rongrong and Bai Yuechu witness Dongfang and Honghong conversing. Dongfang's spirit explains that he gambled his whole life on that bet, and he is happy that it paid off. Honghong denies he won anything, but Dongfang reminds her that the Kuqing Tree cannot lie. Since their vow was accepted she must love him and he in turn must love her.
He explains that the Shadow Foxes were fools to think he would ever really doubt Honghong since he has always loved her. Honghong calls him a fool for agreeing to the duel that resulted in his death. Dongfang explains it was necessary to fool the Shadow Fox Queen into making her move and revealing herself so she could finally be defeated and her devious plot exposed, as it was not enough to merely kill her. Proof of her plan would liberate Tushan from the crimes committed by the Shadow Foxes and restore the peace Dongfang and Honghong had worked so hard to build. Dongfang then releases Honghong, and Susu returns to normal.
