Matchmakers (红娘 Hongniang or 红线仙 Hongxian Xian) are humans or yaoguai that help lovers reunite in the afterlife after they make the Heart Oath.

Hongxian (红线) or 'red thread' comes from Chinese legends that if two are connected by red thread, they are destined to become lovers.
Hongxian Xian (红线仙) or 'red thread fairy' is just another name for Matchmakers (Hongniang 红娘) like Susu.
