Water Bead Arc[]
Season 1 of the donghua focuses on the love between the Sand Spirit Fan Yunfei and the Ice General, who first met in the Far West Regions and are now trying to reunite in present time. The arc is named after the couple's fabao, the Water Bead Jewel.
The Yiqidao League (一气道盟) is trying to control whom Bai Yuechu (白月初) marries. He resists but one day suddenly meets Susu (苏苏). At the same time, a scruffy fox spirit named Fan Yunfei (梵云飞) from the Far West Regions wants to reunite with his reincarnated lover Li Xueyang (厉雪扬). The issue is that Li has no memory of who Fan is. With the help of Bai and Susu, Fan tries to restore Li's memory, but the more she remembers, the angrier she gets. They realize that the key to restoring their love is to use the Water Bead Jewel. However, using the jewel summons a Disaster Beast that Bai, Fan, the Tushan sisters, and a mysterious woman that Susu morphs into are ultimately able to defeat. Li then remembers how Fan proposed to her every night for 100 days and ultimately saved her from the Flame Medusa. With Fan and Li reunited, some questions remain: who are the Tushan sisters, who is that woman that Susu turned into after she kissed Bai, and where will Bai and Susu's adventures take them next?
Wang Quan Arc[]
Season 2 of the donghua, Qingtong's love for Wang Fugui, the story of the Wangquan Clan
Long ago, humans and yaoguai (妖怪 spirits, demons) used to be one family, but they split, with humans possessing superior intellect and yaoguai superior strength. Since they split, humans and yaoguai have been waging constant wars, but some still fall in love. It is up to the Tushan Fox Spirits and allies to help tie the knot and once again reunite humans and yaoguai.
Wang Fugui (王富贵) is a rich kid from the Yiqidao League who constantly flaunts his wealth to poke fun at poor Bai Yuechu. Qingtong (清瞳) is a spider spirit who loved Wangquan Fugui (王权富贵), Wang's past incarnation. Together with Susu, they travel to Tushan, home of the matchmaking fox spirits. There, they learn the past lives of Qingtong and Wang Fugui, how Wangquan was shut in his family estate and raised by his dad to become a Daoist weapon that kills Yaoguai on sight. But one day, Wangquan met Qingtong, who opened his eyes and weaved him images of the outside world. From then on, he began to show mercy on yaoguai and swore to protect Qingtong, but was tragically expelled from his family's estate because of the once forbidden love between humans and yaoguai.
In the present, Wang is possessed by an Ehuishou demon and goes on a rampage. Yaya knocks the ehuishou out of Wang using her Qumoyishi. After that Wang starts to remember Qingtong, gradually accepting her love and advances on him. Meanwhile, Yaya and Rongrong begin working on restoring Bai and Susu's memories of their past lives, trying to re-enact the scene in Season 1 when Susu transformed into 'her'. However, a mysterious lady uses voodoo magic and more ehuishou to possess Bai, who then goes on a rampage, using a Xukong Zhilei that seems to dissipate Susu. However, Susu re-appears as 'her' and is able to expel the demon possessing Bai with her Qumoyishi. Seeing 'her' once again, Yaya recounts her past when she first met Bai's past incarnation: Dongfang Yuechu.
