Tushan Susu' is the main female protagonist of the Fox Spirit Matchmaker manhua series. Her true love bonded by the Tree of Sorrow, is the Daoist Bai Yuechu. She embarked on adventures with Bai Yuechu and at times even looks up to him as a revered mentor. Susu carries all kinds of candy and lollipops with her, which she uses to bribe and tempt Bai Yuechu into fulfilling her favors.
She was once speculated and hoped to be Tushan Honghong, and she is in fact the descended form of Tushan Honghong after she used up and sacrificed all her Yaoli and memories to fulfill the Pledge of Love with Dongfang Yuechu.
At certain occasions, she can transform back into Honghong under various special conditions; for instances when she recalled her past as Honghong through the use of her matchmaker book to kiss Bai Yuechu or taste his blood. This ability to transform appears to require Yaoli to supply the energy by either draining Bai Yuechu or uses someone else's power (such as the Third Master of Aolai).
Name[]
One interpretation is that Susu 苏苏 means "waking up" 苏醒, as Yaya wants Susu to "wake up" and transform back into Honghong.
Appearance[]
Susu is a small girl with long, golden-orange hair tied into a very loose ponytail and green eyes. Like all fox spirits, she has fox ears. She has one cowlick hair that sprouts from the top of her head.
In the beginning, she wears a white top with long sleeves and trousers underneath a pink and purple overlayer with a green waistband. Later on, she switches to a red and white dress--a smaller version of Honghong's clothes--and has golden anklets with bells.
When she transforms into her Honghong form, she is much more comely with large breasts (like Yaya) and taller than Bai Yuechu. Like the original Honghong, her eyes turn from green to red when she is focused or angry.
Personality[]
Susu is quite slow-witted, as well clumsy, but is very kind-hearted. Because people ridicule her for being a fool with no abilities and unworthy to be a fox spirit, she is very hard working and ambitious and practices her magic spells during the day and improves her knowledge during the night. She is an optimist and never gives up on her dream of becoming respected by her sisters and Tushan.
Her greatest desire is to become an outstanding fox spirit matchmaker. Her desire is so great that she would rather resist Yaya than lose her magic powers through marriage. Despite her goal, she is at first fairly helpless without Bai Yuechu or her sister's help. However, as the two have been hanging out and working together as Matchmakers, Bai Yuechu seems to be rubbing off on her a little, and she has become much more in sync with him and appears to becoming more and more quick-witted, experienced and capable.
. When she transforms back into her older Honghong-like form, she seems to have a somewhat different personality from the original Honghong and from Susu herself. She is much sexier, prideful and cocky, but also much more aware of her own feelings for Bai Yuechu/Dongfang. She is also seemingly much less stressed and happier than Honghong. Her memories in this form seem to come from Susu rather than Honghong, but it is still unknown as to whether she fully remembers her life as Honghong. When transformed, she admits to Bai Yuechu's father (who keeps referring to her as his daughter-in-law), while blushing, that "even if she were to fall for his stupid son, he would be marrying into her family, not his."

Cooking[]
Susu wants to be able to impress Bai Yuechu with her cooking, especially when she gets jealous of the disguised Luolan. However, she either learns from very incompetent chefs or is just naturally horrible at cooking as she somehow makes the first dish that ever caused Bai Yuechu to vomit. Despite her incredible ability to make absolutely inedible dishes, Bai Yuechu still tries to eat it.
Sacred Book[]
Like all proper fox spirits, Susu has a sacred book called the Chunai Tianpian that contains key information that helps her in her matchmaking assignments.
Susu's sacred book in particular is special: it is known as the Book of Pure Love and is over 800 years old. It was also once owned by Honghong. Although it was thought to be unbreakable, it was cut into two halves by Yuechu's tear blade.
Reincarnation Camera[]
Mengmei Zhiyan (梦寐之颜) or Dream Camera is a special camera that can take pictures of people and see what they are thinking in their minds. It can also capture what people are doing in places far away.
Recollections of Love []
Recollections of Love (爱的回忆录) is a spell that projects the target's memories on a TV screen.
Dream TV[]
She can use Nine-tail Electric Memory Pins (九尾显忆雷达) to broadcast people's dreams and memories from previous lives on TV, sort of like HeartRode ECG Electrodes.[1]
Invincible Claws[]
Her hands are immune to almost all magic, enabling her to touch any and all magic weapons that would normally harm her. She is able to touch Black Foxes, which would normally be untouchable.
She is also able to touch Tears of the Void and throw it at enemies, though she has no practice in using it so she ends up getting sucked into the void herself when she first tries to use it. Bai Yuechu has taught her to wave her hands around whenever she is in trouble and she is able to protect herself from most attacks this way.
Trivia[]
- During the raw chapters, her past caretaker and mentor escaped from the holdings of the Tree of Bitter Love.
